This detox and immune boosting smoothie packs a nice dose of antioxidants and vitamin C. It is not just for drinking during the cold and flu season, but great during all seasons with mildly sweet and refreshing orange flavor and no added fake sugar. It became one of my favorites, because it is quick and easy to make and kids love it too!
The simple list of ingredients are: It has kiwis, strawberries, carrots, oranges, apples, and apple cider vinegar.
Why this simple “Anti-Ox- i-mmun- a-booster Super Smoothie” is so powerful
Kiwis are high in vitamin C, which is an important immune-boosting nutrient, as well as in vitamin E, which, helps increase your body’s T-cell count (that’s your immune system baby).
Strawberries are full of antioxidants and vitamin C, both of which are excellent for fighting free radicals.
Carrots are a powerful immune system builder. They help the body build resistance to germs, viruses, bacteria, and infections.
Oranges are chock-full of Vitamin C which is one of the best detox vitamins around.
Apples contain a flavonoid called quercetin which has been shown to significantly improve your immune system.
Apple cider vinegar has so many health benefits, among them are helping to remove harmful environmental toxins that build up in the body, especially in the liver.
If you’re ready to give your immune system a supercharge and detox your body at the same time you need to try out this “Anti-Ox- i-mmun- a-booster Super Smoothie NOW!” Find recipe below.
Kitchen life hack: Store your fresh produce for smoothies in the Rubbermaid FreshWorks containers instead of store packaging.
It uses patented FreshVentTMtechnology to keep produce fresher up to 80%* longer than traditional produce packaging. FreshVent regulates the flow of oxygen and carbon dioxide to create the optimal environment so produce stays nearly as fresh as the day it was picked, while the CrispTrayTM helps reduce moisture and spoilage.
*Based on strawberries in FreshWorks™ containers vs. store packaging. Results may vary depending upon produce and use.
My favorite things and features about this FreshWorks container set from Rubbermaid
They come in 3 sizes and can be organized in the fridge either stacked on top of each other or smaller containers can fit into small spaces.
I love that the largest container from this set fits the entire huge bag of fresh mixed greens purchased from the big box wholesale club.
Green CrispTray elevates produce from the bottom of container, away from moisture to prevent the airflow to prevent spoilage.
It’s easy to use – simply move produce from store packaging and into the FreshWorks containers before refrigerating to maintain freshness for up to 80% longer. The lid filter lasts a lifetime, no replacements needed.
Microwave and top shelf dishwasher safe, BPA-free.
I put the container to the test using my fresh produce. I put 3 large strawberries in FreshWorks Container and left 3 strawberries in store bought container. I left both containers in the fridge for 6 days untouched. After 6th day I opened the containers and noticed that in the store bought container strawberries became to smell. They also appeared softer and soggier, vs strawberries in the FreshWorks container were harder and crispier and they didn’t have the spoilage smell.
I also love with the largest container that kept my greens for 6 days fresh. After opening it, the greens are still fresh, not a single bad and soggy leaf, and fresh greens still smell very fresh. I was very pleased with my greens storage.
Detox and Immune Boosting Smoothie Ingredients and Preparation
Wash fresh produce. Add to your blender: 1 Apple, 1 orange 1 kiwi, 1 medium Carrot (or 3-4 baby carrots) 1 strawberry, 1 TBS Apple cider vinegar, 1/2 cup of water and optional: 3-4 cubes of ice.
Blend it all together for 1-2 minutes depending on how powerful your blender is and enjoy right away.
Delicious first thing in the morning and great for any time during the day.
Kitchen Life hack: Pre-make this smoothie ahead so you have it right out of the fridge first thing in the morning. I recommend to store it prepared in a mason jar with lids to preserve the freshness and vitamins.
Let me know if you’re excited to try this smoothie and how did you like it?
Also get double excited because I’m giving away the same 3-piece Rubbermaid container set to one lucky The Big Apple Mama Blog reader.
