At the beginning of every week I like to come up with a schedule and plan for all of the tasks that need to be accomplished. Among those tasks is meal planning for my family and I. I want to figure out what we are going to eat for dinner for the week so either my husband or I can purchase what we need from the supermarket. Even with planning and preparation sometimes other more pressing matters can get in the way. There are those days where we didn’t have a chance to get to the supermarket or we just don’t have enough time to prepare a home cooked meal. Or maybe I have an evening appointment and need a quick and healthy lunch to get me going.
I have been doing my best to stay away from processed foods and unhealthy fast foods. This doesn’t leave many options when it comes finding foods that are quick and easy to prepare. In the past I would rely on take out food or frozen dinners to help us out when we were pressed for time. I have come to find out that most of these types of food are loaded with preservatives and mystery ingredients and meats. That is until I found out about Healthy Choice Café Steamers.
This is a new line of meals from Healthy Choice that includes many varieties and choices. Most if not all of them have less than 310 calories, 18 grams of protein, no preservatives and real ingredients. On the box it says “Nothing Artificial. Made with 100% Natural chicken”. They have choices like Meatball Marinara, Chicken Fried Rice, Grilled Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo, Chicken & Vegetable Stir Fry and Grilled Pesto & Vegetables.
I tried the grilled chicken & broccoli Alfredo last night and I have to say it was pretty good. I chose this dish because it has the lowest amount of net carbs (only 4g net carbs) and 27g of protein. If you’re on a low carb journey, like me, it is a good choice. This dish did not have that typical processed food taste. The meat was fresh tasting and the sauce and broccoli was delicious. Inside the box was the dish with a unique tray-in tray steamer design.
The meal was cooked in the microwave for 4 minutes but it tasted like it came off the stovetop. The broccoli and meat is on the top tray. The Alfredo sauce is at the bottom tray. You heat it in the microwave as 1 dish, then add your broccoli and chicken to the bottom tray where Alfredo sauce is and mix it. The broccoli was firm but not soggy. The chicken tasted like chicken and not some piece of rubber. The sauce was smooth and textured not globby and sticky. Overall this tray technology and the fresh ingredients allowed me to quickly create a healthy meal.
I have to say this is a great alternative for a quick meal at home or on the go. These Healthy Choice Café Steamers would be good to bring to work. People could save money on lunch and eat healthy while there at it.

I tried them, they are pretty good. The only problem I have with them is their sodium amount
HI Nancy, This Grilled chicken & Broccoli Alfredo has 600 mg of sodium. I like that Healthy Choice Café Steamers’ feature a unique tray-in-tray steam cooking method that delivers fresh-tasting meals with crisp vegetables and juicy proteins. It also gives you the chance to be a part of the culinary experience as you pour your own sauce, determining how much or how little flavor you want with your meal. I found that the Alfredo sauce is the one that salty, so I just used half of the sauce for my chicken. It was good!
