Aside from Halloween there really isn’t any other time of the year that people get dressed up in costumes. I wonder why I don’t see many people throwing costume parties anymore? As a kid growing up I would frequently see characters of my favorite TV shows and cartoons going to masquerade balls and costume parties. I always thought to myself how fun it would be to host or go to one of these parties when I got older. Even now with two young kids at home I’m yet to see a birthday party invite to a costume party. Maybe I will have to start a trend and host my very own costume party bash. However I predict it will be my husband and I dressed up in costumes and all the guests will arrive in regular clothes. Maybe I should try and throw a costume party for my daughter’s upcoming birthday party.
Renaissance themed birthday party!
Considering that she just got a brand new Renaissance themed costume, this may be a great idea. As my daughter was trying on her Court Lady Renaissance costume, she asked: “Do I have to wait until Halloween to wear this?” This is when I had a light bulb moment and thought of having a Renaissance themed party for her upcoming birthday. I mean her costume really looked good. She reminded me of one those characters that you see when you go to the New York Renaissance Faire. The headdress and gown was made really well and fit perfectly. All she needs is the rest of the King’s court and a handsome prince to complete the ensemble. We could send out the link to Costume Discounters with the party invites and tell everyone that it is a Renaissance themed party. It would be awesome if the kids come dressed up as knights, kings, queens, court jesters, nobleman, noblewoman, peasants, wizards, and more. I could enlist my husband and son to help decorate our house in a Renaissance theme and we could have a big banquet spread for food.
I have to say I’m getting really excited thinking about how happy this party will make my daughter. You’re only a kid once (tell that to my husband) and should make the most out of every opportunity for your children. The memories that we create now will last a lifetime. Just remember before you know it the kids will be all grown up and throwing parties for their own children.
