We practically just said goodbye to 2016 and usher in a new and better 2017! I say good riddance to 2016. There were just too many deaths that occurred during this past year that people were talking about….
I for one am ready to step into 2017 with some New Year’s resolutions. First off, after all of this holiday eating that began on Halloween and Thanksgiving, I am going to need to shed some fat. By the way, did you know that people gain the most weight during this holiday season beginning Halloween thru Valentine’s Day?
My plan has four parts:
Don’t make too broad or general resolutions. Instead – keep your resolutions simple and that way they are easy to stick with.
The first is cut back on your sugar intake and reduce the amount of added sugar you consume.
I know you think it’s hard, but it’s pretty simple – because you need to. You have to know that sugar is your enemy, no matter what name or form it has – The fancy names like organic cane sugar, maple syrup, glucose, honey, molasses, palm sugar, fruit juice…etc – there are over 60 names for sugar. The point is that your body does not know that it is organic or “natural” or “healthy” but processes it as sugar and turns into fat.
Secondly – start your day right with a good detox drink and fat-busting smoothie
that everyone has been talking about. It has very simple ingredients and one ingredient may even surprise you. It is super easy, versatile and nutritional powerhouse. Check out this recipe (below) Give it a shot! Green smoothies rock!
Part 3 is a must and nowadays is easy and affordable. – Join a new gym.
A gym that doesn’t tie you down with commitments but will welcome you whenever you walk in the doors. A place like Planet Fitness. I find their commercials to be hilarious and I just love the purple color of their equipment. It’s just so purply! To tell you the truth I am looking to get away from those gym bullies that hang around my gym. You know, the kind of people that Planet Fitness promises wont be in their gyms. I just saw one of those commercials and they mention a new non-committal membership they have. So while I avoid the tempting treats from the bakery, I will be walking towards Planet Fitness with a fat-busting smoothie in my hand. Wish me luck.

And last but not least that I recommend for all – walk at least 30 minutes a day.
Walking is for the most part low impact and when done at a moderate to fast pace, it can help you shed those extra pounds you’ve put on during the winter. Best thing you don’t have to wait for the weather to get warm to get started.

Fat Busting smoothie recipe:
You will need:
2 cups fresh spinach
1 celery stalk
2 tbs apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup apple juice

Directions: Place all ingredients in your Blender. You can add few pieces of ice. Blend for 2-3 minutes or until smooth. Add additional apple juice if it is too thick.
This will make 2 8 oz glasses.
