Everywhere you look whether it is on the TV or the web you can’t help but hear stories about toxins, GMOs, poisoned water, polluted air, and contaminated food. When I think about all of the chemicals that enter into our bodies on a daily basis it sickens me. Actually it literally sickens me. I walk around for days feeling bloated, tired, and just out of it. Is it the food that I’m eating, the air I’m breathing or maybe it is the water I’m drinking? It most likely is a combination of everything.
We are living in a toxic environment and no matter how clean we eat and drink there are still bad things getting into our bodies. That is why it is important to detox your body every once in a while. Give your system a break and get rid of some those bad chemicals that are floating around your blood stream. It is almost like cleaning out the cache on your computer or refreshing your browser. Every once in a while you need to shut down shop and give your body a vacation. For the mind we can meditate and for the body we can detox.
With that said I have tried many different types of detox methods over the years. There is juicing, maple syrup-lemon-cayenne pepper drink, and the colon-cleanse to mention a few. They are all pretty good at ridding your body of toxins and setting the reset button so to speak. I recently found another detox drink that I wanted to share with everyone. It is called Apple Cinnamon Detox Water, it’s the quickest and simplest to make and here is the recipe:
Actually I will share 2 methods of preparation: Boil and no boil
Boil Method (my favorite! Besides for the healthy benefits, my house smells amazing! Adapted from Sparkles to Sprinkles)
- One gallon water (filtered or bottled)
- 3-6 Apples
- 6 Cinnamon Sticks
- Bring water to boil and than reduce heat to simmer.
- Core and slice your apples – Try to slice them as thin as possible!
- Add apples and cinnamon sticks to your simmering water.
- Simmer 15 minutes. Let stand and cool.
- Strain water into glass pitcher.
- Refrigerate and start enjoying
Follow the same exact instructions as above, add ingredients to your water, just do not boil it. Simply let sit for a bit, then refrigerate.
- Flushes toxins
- Aids weight loss
- Fights cancer
- Boosts immune system
- Speeds up metabolism
- Aids digestion
- Improves brain function
Why I prefer boil method? Well not only because my house smells amazing, but there are more nutrients go into the detox water and it is a little sweet too with only few calories. So forget about soda and juices and let this apple cinnamon water do miracles in a week. The results you should expect from this concoction are an increased weight loss and amazing energy boost!
Disclaimer: I’m not a doctor or nutritionist. I am just a gal who’s passionate about natural health and beauty, and whenever I read about a food, idea or recipe or hear about it from my friends that makes sense to me and inspires me, I will share it! Drink 1 glass first thing in the morning and before your meals. Take it to the gym with you, on a bicycle ride, power walk – the more you sweat the more toxins your body will flush. I also like to do a half a day detox, where practically after 5pm I don’t eat anything, just drink this apple cinnamon water.
So let me know if you tried this Apple Cinnamon detox water and how are you liking it?
