It’s hard to believe that we are already 27 days into 2015. I wonder how many people that have made New Year’s resolutions are still with them? Most New Year’s resolutions have to do with wellness, specifically exercise and losing weight. Additionally most resolutions fail within the first two months of being made. This is not a very good statistic especially since we are talking about a very important topic: Our health.
Experts say that the reason most people fail with their New Year’s resolutions has to do with lack of motivation and unrealistic expectations.
That is why I prefer to create resolutions that are more realistic and manageable, so there will be less chances of failure. Taking baby steps towards my goals is preferable to shooting for the top of the mountain and then getting all depressed when I don’t get there. For example: instead of saying, “My New Year’s resolution is to lose 20 pounds before the summer.” I prefer to break things up a bit and say, “My New Year’s resolution is to lose an average of 2-3 pounds per month by the end of June.” You see I’m not holding myself to this huge number of 20 pounds, but a more reasonable expectation of 2-3 pounds. This will give me a total weight loss of between 12-18 pounds during this time period. You see it is almost the same result but it is broken up into smaller pieces.
This is where technology comes handy.
Now if your like me even if you have these smaller baby step goals you still need a kick in the butt every once and a while. Maybe we even need a way to track our daily exercise and share it with the rest of the world. This is where technology comes into play, specifically a new website I’ve been working out with called FitStudio.com by Sears. – a FREE, one-stop fitness destination and rewards platform. Sears recently re-launched this site and I have to tell you it looks really good. To start the site allows you to link up with your favorite fitness apps and devices that way you can track your fitness all in one place.

Another great feature of the site is that it allows you to earn points that you can use towards purchases at Sears and Kmart. Through there #Achieve15 program when you run or walk 15 miles (or burn 1500 cal) you can earn 5000 points. For every 5,000 points Fit Studio will add $5 to your Fitstudio account. In addition just for signing up with FitStudio.com, members will automatically receive 10,000 points that equals $10 to spend at Sears or Kmart. How’s that for motivation? I think it is a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Now the Sears FitStudio.com website also offers many other great features as well. There is a section all about new fitness gear and reviews. There is another section of the site that is all about you getting fit. Here you can check out hundreds of different exercises and workout routines, try new challenges, read articles about fitness, and even find your very own local personal trainers. What else can you ask for in a free fitness site? I for one can’t think of anything. Oh, wait maybe my very own personal masseuse. Especially after all of the exercise I’m going to be doing with the help of FitStudio.com.
