After water, coffee and tea is one of the most popular drinks that people consume in the morning before beginning their daily routines. Isn’t it the truth? It’s easy with water, you just refill your bpa free bottle or grab a fresh water bottle. With coffee however you need to get into grinding your beans, boiling water, and so on. Even if you have a coffee machine or you are using instant coffee (to me this is fake coffee) it still takes time. In the end you are not getting the perfect coffee experience that you deserve. It saddens me to think about how many people are doing their coffee the wrong way.
Up until recently I was one of those people who were missing out on the true flavor of freshly brewed coffee. I did the best I could. I was buying organic fair trade beans, grinding them at home and using a French press. The end result was a good cup of coffee, but I had no idea what I was missing. That is until I discovered the Keurig 2.0 brewing system. I heard about Keurig before and I know my friends were raving about it, however I never had a chance to experience the cup of Keurig freshly brewed coffee for myself. Few weeks ago I went to a pre-holiday event here in NYC, where many companies, like Ubisoft, HP, iScream, Stop and Shop and more were showing their latest products. Keurig was one of the sponsors and this cute & friendly girl Ashley I met behind the Keurig booth, she was brewing fresh coffee, tea and hot chocolate for everyone who was stopping by the Keurig booth to try their new beverages and to check out the brand new Keurig 2.0.
This compact device sits on my counter top filled with filtered water on stand-by ready to go. After I press the power button, it warms up for about 3 minutes. Then all I have to do is pop in one of their convenient k-cups ( I use Newman’s Own organic coffee K-cups), push the lid down and press the button. I can even select the size (like 4oz, 6 oz, 8 or 10). Within seconds a piping hot cup of freshly brewed coffee is poured into my cup. It’s as easy as 1-2-3. And the quality and taste of the coffee matches some of the best cups of coffee I have ever had. So now instead of paying the local barista to fill my cup with who knows what, the Keurig 2.0 has become my own personal barista.
The fact that Keurig can now brew a cup and brew the 4-cup carafe from a larger K-cup is great. This way I can brew the fresh coffee for 4 people at once when I have my family over.
I recently went to Kohls where they sell Keurigs, K-cups and I stubmled upon the refillable filter cup for Keurig Brewing system. I was so excited that I found it and went ahead and purchased it. However when I came home, filled it up with my own organic coffee, insert it into machine, but came up to this message on the screen: Sorry, this K-cup is not accepted by this brewer. Later I found the “fine print” on the package that said “Not compatible with Keurig 2.0 brewing systems.” That was a little bummer. So just be aware that this Keurig 2.0 does not accept refillable filter cups. For this reason I would give this Keurig 4 stars out 5. Other than that I’m just so happy with the way my coffee tastes, so much tastier, than in my french press. And my kids love to brew their hot cocoa themselves:)
If you’re a New Yorker, I wanted to share this fun video with you. Keurig recently embarked on a fun project to help inspire togetherness and paired strangers together in a cab to “say hello” and enjoy a coffee together.
Keurig 2.0 is currently being priced from $199.00 on Keurig web site, but I have seen it for $177 on Amazon. Look in my gift guide. I also grabbed 3 20% coupons from the KidzVuz event. The coupon is good for 20% off a Keurig 2.0 Brewing System (K350, K450, K550 models only). Coupon is redeemable at www.keurig.com only and I have 3 individual coupon codes. If anyone interested, I will be happy to pass along the savings. Simply email me or comment on this post. I have 3 coupon codes and they expire on January 1, 2015.
Disclosure: I received the sample of Keurig 2.0 K500 Brewing system to facilitate this post. Maybe I live on a planet Zog, but I have never owned or tried a cup of Keurig before. Regardless of our arrangements with the brand, I was not required to post a positive review. All opinions are mine.
