This past week my family and I were given the opportunity to participate in the “Buick and MapMyFitness ‘Runs Worth the Drive’ Program”. We were provided with a 2014 Buick Verano turbo 4-door luxury sedan. For those of you who are not familiar with the Verano it is part of several new Buick vehicles that have come out in 2014. Buick has really given their models a face life and aside from the Buick emblem this car looks nothing like the Buick’s of the past.
The Verano was delivered to our home last Monday with about 2000 miles on it, so it still had that new car smell. The exterior was called Mocha Bronze Metallic but to me it looked like dark black/gray. On the interior there were very nice leather covered seats. The car came loaded with all the bells and whistles one would expect from a luxury sedan with a sticker price of only $31,685. There are so many safety features on the car, which is great. All types of accident avoidance sensors, lots of airbags, rear camera, front-facing camera, traction control, blind zone alert, rear traffic alert, lane-departure warning and more. I was very much impressed with the fit and finish of the interior and exterior of the car.
Now for the fun part the test drive! My husband and I were very eager to take their car out of the city and eventually hit the open road. One of the places that we wanted to visit was out favorite jogging trail that was about a 30-minute drive from our house. But first my husband had to run some errands that would take him on the highway about 50 miles from our home. He had a smile on his face when he got home so I knew right away that he enjoyed the trip. “This car has mixes power and comfort with a very smooth ride”. That was one of his many comments he shared about the Buick Verano. He went on to tell me that the car wasn’t just fast for a sedan it was fast for any car. That it was so QUIET inside the cabin that several times he looked down at the speedometer and was surprised to see how fast he was going. We wont get into actual speeds for legal purposes. I kid, but seriously he said this car could keep up with other cars that are twice as much.
Overall we really both enjoyed the experience driving the 2014 Buick Verano. We liked the front seat comfort and room, climate controls, handling, acceleration, safety features, sound system (Bose), and overall look of the Verano.
There were only two complaints that we both agreed on. One was the small back limited legroom for our children in the backseat, two the not so good gas mileage (disclaimer: my husband has a heavy foot) and three the slightly confusing stereo controls (this is what my husband thought). Other than that we would highly recommend the Buick Verano.
Ooops, I almost forgot our experience driving to our favorite running trail. Just for fun we used the navigation system to guide us to the trail. The Verano got us to the trail with ease and cool comfort thanks to its powerful AC. We had a short run and were back inside the Verano on our way home in no time. We are both looking forward to checking out the other new vehicles that are in Buick’s line up. If they are as good as the Verano we are definitely in for a treat.
Ready to rock your run worth the drive?
Starting on June 26, “Runs Worth the Drive Challenge” participants must log 5 miles of running per week, for six weeks. The competition will be tracked on a virtual leaderboard on MapMyFitness.com, where progress will be measured in real-time and weekly prizes will be awarded. Runs of at least five minutes long will be logged automatically into a participant’s profile and count toward the ultimate goal of running 30 miles in six weeks.
Participants who accomplish that goal will be entered into the grand prize drawing for an all-expense paid trip to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon & Half-Marathon in Phoenix, Arizona.
- Goal: Run a total of 30 miles between June 26 and August 6, 2014 using a synchronized GPS-enabled device or the MapMyRun app.
- Grand Prize: Players who complete the challenge goal will be entered into a drawing for a trip for two to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in Arizona on January 18th, 2015 — including airfare and hotel accommodations, Under Armour gear, and fees to run in your choice of Marathon, Half Marathon, or Mini Marathon.
- Weekly Prizes: Each week, a $25 Under Armour Gift Card will be awarded to a random participant who has logged runs totaling 5 miles or more.
