Need to change Facebook page name? This is how I did it in 20 days!
I recently changed the name of one of my Facebook pages. It was completely 2 different names. The original name I had was “Flash Giveaways” and it had over 4,000 likes. I haven’t been on it for over a year. So I decided to change the name similar to the name of my blog – The Big Apple Mama.
It was pretty easy process. And since many of you have asked how to change Facebook page name, I decided to explain how I did it.
1. First go to your business page, click Edit, then Update Page Info.
Then you will be taken to screen shot like this where you click on the Request Change link
Once you click the Request change link you will be taken to a new page where you have to agree to Facebook formatting and page changing guidelines. You will need to select what your page name is currently represents. I selected website or blog. Then you will need to provide some documentation. Make sure you have the required documents verifying the name change for your website or blog. You’ll need to upload these documents to submit your request. You will then input your current page name and desired page name and you need to select the reason why do you want to change the name? I selected “I’m re-branding my page”
And finally you need to upload documentation that clearly shows the name and address of your business. An example of acceptable documentation is a utility or phone bill. Unacceptable documentation include logos, websites, and business cards.
I thought for a bit where in the world I will get the phone or utility bill in the name of my new blog? So I quickly logged in to my godaddy account for the recently purchased domain and saw the real invoice with my name, email address, full address and Credit card last four digits. I was like BINGO and only hoped that Facebook would accept this document as a requested proof.
So now I filed a request on December 18 2013. What strange thing was Facebook didn’t even email me to confirm that they have changed the Facebook page name. Then on Friday, January 3rd 2014 I logged in to my FB and noticed that the Facebook name was changed! And it changed the page URL as well which I’m also happy about.
